Online RN to BSN Completion Degree - Frequently Asked Questions

You probably have a lot of questions about the program, the classes, the degree, and much more. Below is a list of Frequently Asked Questions. If you have a question that wasn’t answered here, please contact us, or give us a call at 888-898-1516, and an Admission Representative would be happy to answer your questions and walk you through the application process.

What are the learning materials?

Online education tends to be flat and uninspiring. Traditional online education students read class material, and then get tested on that material. Unitek College is different. We foster student engagement through Moodle, an online learning platform that allows for sharing, collaboration, group discussion, and private communication.

How do I take tests?

No testing centers. No testing fees. No proctored exams. No mandatory test times. At Unitek College, you take all your tests online, when and where it is convenient for you.

Is every course 100% Online?

Every course is 100% online. Other online programs require students to take some courses at a community college, and transfer the credits back to the BSN program. Not at Unitek College. Our BSN program is complete and comprehensive, and covers every aspect of your education. The capstone of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Completion Degree program is an independent student practicum. Most students complete the practicum at their place of employment.

Is Unitek College Accredited?

Yes. Unitek College Fremont Main Campus, Unitek College San Jose Branch Campus, and Unitek College Sacramento Branch Campus are accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). Accreditation is the one of the most reliable indicators of the quality of a school:

  1. It ensures that the program of study is rigorous and trains students properly for their respective fields.
  2. Accreditation is in-part contingent on the quality of instructors.
  3. For a school to receive accreditation, it must prove that students can and have successfully completed the courses offered.
  4. And finally, schools and employers nationwide recognize accredited schools as legitimate learning institutions.
Is Unitek College's Bachelor of Science in Nursing Completion Degree Program Accredited?

Yes. Accreditation of a nursing school’s degree is a voluntary endeavor, but it helps ensure the quality and commitment of its educational program.

Unitek College is also a member of the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission and the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education.

How much will my degree cost?

Unitek College includes all costs of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing in a single price. There are no hidden fees. No additional text book fees. No materials fees. No graduation fees. The program price includes all textbooks, workbooks, and online portal access. We are of the belief that financing your degree shouldn’t take more effort than actually earning your degree. We’ve got you covered.

Does Unitek College have a physical campus?

Unitek College has three Northern California locations. Unitek College Fremont Main Campus is located right off the I-880, while Unitek College San Jose Branch Campus is a quick drive from the Mineta San José International Airport. Unitek College Sacramento Campus resides minutes from Downtown Sacramento.

How do I contact professors and classmates?

It is a top priority that our online students feel just as connected to Unitek College, their instructors, and their peers, as our on-campus students. Online courses are conducted via Moodle, an application designed specifically for higher education. Moodle facilitates collaboration between classmates, communication with professors, two-way content sharing, email, virtual office hours, and class-wide discussion boards. Many of our students have reported that the online environment increases class involvement, as opposed to the traditional classroom.

Are there mandatory login times or class hours?

Unitek College's Bachelor of Science in Nursing program was designed by working nurses, for working nurses. There are no specific required log-in times, as this program is specifically for working nurses. Of course, to succeed, students must log in consistently, but it is up to the student to determine when and how often that is. Take note that courses will have assignments with set due dates, and active student participation is mandatory. Some online RN to BSN programs require students to log in on a certain number of days per week, or at a scheduled time every day. Unitek College’s online RN to BSN program has one mandatory schedule, and that would be the one YOU set.
